Breaking down barriers: Tumors make a leaky brain

Abstract : The causes of death among cancer patients are multifactorial, and the mechanisms that drive pathological conditions that are associated with, but take place outside of, the tumor are still poorly characterized. In this issue of Developmental Cell, Kim et al. (2021) identify a paraneoplastic syndrome that affects blood-brain barrier permeability and host survival.
