Actin’ on HIV: How Dendritic Cells Spread Infection

Abstract : Dendritic cells (DCs) capture HIV particles and transmit them to CD4 T cells. In a recent article published in Cell, Ménager and Littman (2016) perform an shRNA screen in DCs and find that actin nucleation and stabilization regulate HIV uptake and maintain the virus on membrane protrusions for efficient transfer.
